LAHORE: Police on Thursday arrested as many as 35 activists who had gathered outside the Lahore Press Club to hold a protest against forced disappearances in Karachi.
The participants of the protest included university students especially Pashtuns, members of student organisations, including the Progressive Youth Alliance (PYA) and the Red Workers’ Front.
The demonstration was held against the arrest of PYA workers, who were detained by police for holding a rally in support of the PTM last week in Karachi.
The workers of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) were also among the arrestees.
The abducted activists were taken to nearby police stations, including the Garhi Shahu, Lytton Road and Civil Lines.
However, according to police, the activists were released after sometime and their number was not more than 20.
