ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy (PN) Rear Admiral Waseem Akram has been promoted to the rank of vice admiral with immediate effect. Akram was commissioned in the operations branch of Pakistan Navy in 1982. During his distinguished career, he attained vast experience in both command and staff posts. His command appointments included executive officer Type-21 ship, commanding officer of Naval Aviation Training School and Sea King Squadron, and type commander of Auxiliary and Mine Warfare Squadron. Some of his key staff appointments included director general of Naval Intelligence, deputy chief of naval staff (personnel) at Naval Headquarters, director general of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and flag officer of sea training. Akram also served as defence attaché to Pakistan in Oman. He is presently serving as commander coast, and is in-charge of all units and establishments of Pakistan Navy along the coastal belt. The officer is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College, Turkish Staff College and National Defence University, Islamabad.
