GUJRANWALA: Schoolchildren presented flowers to Rescue 1122 officials who held a flag march on GT Road to mark the International Firefighters Day. The march started from the central rescue office and ended at general bus stand where a ceremony was held. MNA Shazia Sohail Mir, MPA Imran Khalid Butt and Mayor Municipal Corporation Sheikh Sarwat Ikram were also present. Addressing the participants, speakers paid rich tributes to the rescue martyrs who sacrificed their lives while providing safety to the citizens. They also lauded the services being rendered by the rescue officials and demanded that the government provide more facilities to the department to increase its performance in the future. District Emergency Officer Umer Akbar Ghumman urged people to adopt protective measures in their offices, factories and also in homes.
